New Technologies Do not Help Solving the Problem of Radioactive Waste

The German Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management published two reports on the issue of new nuclear technologies and how they might impact the management of nuclear waste. One report deals with the option of partitioning and transmutation (P&T) and is co-authored by INRAG members Friederike Frieß, Wolfgang Liebert and Nikolaus Müllner. The second report deals with Small, Modular Reactors (SMRs) and is co-authored by Christoph Pistner and Matthias Englert.

The results of the reports were e.g. discussed in an article in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, an blog post at Renew Economy and at an event of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
