Constituent Meeting

At the occasion of the third anniversary of the Fukushima accident, a group of independent international experts in nuclear matters has been founded in Vienna under the name “INRAG” (International Nuclear Risk Assessment Group).

Their first message: the main lessons from Fukushima are still not learnt. INRAG:

• Notes that the situation at the Fukushima site in Japan is far from under control.

• Recalls that major contributing factors triggering the disaster were a closed nuclear community and the lack of independent oversight.

• Recognizes that major accidents can occur in any nuclear facility in the world.

• Stresses the urgent need for reliable, independent information on nuclear risks.
